Ineffable Brewing Company | Our Story

Too Good to Keep to Ourselves

Ineffable means something too extraordinary to put into words. We thought that was a pretty solid goal for a brewery in Burnsville, Minnesota — so in October 2020, we opened our doors and got to work.
Our Ineffable Story

Our Ineffable Story

Welcome to Ineffable Brewing Co., where great beer, scratch made food, and good vibes come together. We’re Richard and Barbara Stein, high school sweethearts who traded corporate careers for a dream we couldn’t ignore. Richard left the corporate world to learn the craft of brewing, and together we took a leap of faith and opened our own brewpub at the start of the pandemic. We weren’t sure it would work, but thanks to an incredible community, a lot of hard work, and maybe a little luck, here we are. From day one, our goal has been simple: create a place where everyone feels welcome. We believe that when our team is happy, our guests can feel it. You’ll still find us behind the bar, in the kitchen, and working alongside the amazing people who make Ineffable what it is. Fun fact: all four members of our management team, the owners, taproom manager, and kitchen manager, are originally from Northfield, Minnesota. Small town roots and community values run deep around here. Funny enough, we never planned to have a kitchen. But when the space came with one, we decided to go all in. Today, nearly everything is made from scratch, from our sauces and seasonings to our hand cut fries and freshly squeezed lemonade, with many dishes featuring our beer. So why “Ineffable”? Our last name is Stein, but all the fun brewery names were already taken. We wanted a name with meaning and Ineffable: too great or extreme to be expressed in words, well, that felt like the perfect description of this journey. It also gives us plenty of opportunities to have fun, from “What the EFF?” beers to our Little Effers kids menu. Whether you’re here for a pint, a meal, or just a place to relax and connect, we’re grateful you’re here. Come as you are. Leave a little Ineffable.
Richard Stein's Double Yum

Richard Stein's Double Yum

Head Brewer Richard Stein and our kitchen work in lockstep — beer flows from the taps and straight into the dishes too. We call it the double yum, and yes, it's exactly what it sounds like.
The Pawtio, the People, the Pints

The Pawtio, the People, the Pints

From ALL Day Happy Hour Wednesday and trivia nights to the dog-friendly pawtio out front, this place was always meant to be more than somewhere to drink. Families, neighbors, rescue pups — everyone's welcome here.
Always Something New on Tap

Always Something New on Tap

The tap list rotates often, brunch keeps weekends interesting, and the kitchen is always up to something. Come in once and you'll see why neighbors keep coming back.
